As a business that thrives in the sunshine, weather plays a big role in our day to day happenings here at Chasing Tails Pet Farm. We have always gotten questions about what we do to keep the dogs safe and happy in the heavy rain, snow/ice, or even extreme heat. So we're here to let you know how we handle these various weather conditions!
Our facility is equipped with two air conditioned and heated buildings. Our primary kennel and our indoor daycare room.
For the lighter weather such as light rains or snow, we will do a mix of indoor and outdoor play. We will watch the weather and do our best to let the dogs out during the
clearest times.
For days with constant rain, packed snow on the ground, or extreme summer heat, we will spend most of the day free playing indoors, with shorter breaks outside to potty. In the summer, we use fans and misters to keep the dogs cool while playing outside.
And for the harshest weather such as heavy thunderstorms, the dogs will free play indoors when possible but may be crated for the duration of any storms. In the case of any power outages, we have back up heating and cooling options.
As for our transportation vans, we drive rain or shine and in most cases when there is light snow or ice. However, we may find it necessary to cancel or modify our transportation drives and would do so with as much notice as possible to those that have reservations or a normally scheduled pick up.
No matter the weather, we do our best to clean up and wipe the paws of any pups that like to get down and dirty while playing at daycare or boarding.
That is our general plan of attack for dealing with the weather! Of course there is no one answer for all situations but it will always be our priority to keep your doggos safe and having fun!
